To support and improve our daily operations, we are looking for a Cybersecurity Engineer for our Groot-Bijgaarden office.
As a Security Engineer, you will play a key role in strengthening our cybersecurity team. Rather than focusing primarily on ticket handling, you will contribute to improving processes, reducing risks, and ensuring our security practices are consistently applied across the organization.

Your Responsibilities
- Support Risk Management & Security Governance
- Assist in identifying, assessing, and tracking security risks across systems and processes.
- Support the maintenance of risk registers and follow up on mitigation actions.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of security policies, procedures, and controls.
- Help prepare for internal and external audits (evidence collection, documentation, follow-up), according to ISO 27001 and SOC 2. Coordinate Security Operations & Improvements
- Handle SOC-filtered security tickets, focusing on cases that require user action or have a concrete technical impact.
- Monitor security alerts and support incident triage, escalating when needed.
- Analyze recurring incidents and contribute to structural improvements to prevent them.
- Work closely with teams such as DevOps, Cloud, and Business Support to ensure secure ways of working. Help streamline and improve incident response and operational workflows.
- Assist in managing vulnerability management platforms (e.g., Greenbone, Lansweeper).
- Support endpoint security tooling (e.g., ESET) and ensure proper deployment and updates.
- Contribute to maintaining and improving monitoring tools such as Arctic Wolf and Microsoft Defender.
- Support phishing simulations and awareness campaigns (e.g., MetaCompliance).
- Assist with password security initiatives and remediation efforts.
- Provide structured input into firewall and access control reviews. Organizational & Coordination Tasks
- Follow up on security questionnaires and ensure timely completion with stakeholders.
- Perform initial security assessments of new tools, vendors, and suppliers.
- Coordinate access reviews and ensure proper documentation.
- Act as a local point of contact for security-related topics within the Belgium office.
- Support the organization of security awareness sessions and trainings.
- Help promote best practices and a security-first mindset across teams.
- Coach colleagues on basic security hygiene and policies.
Maintain and Support Security Tools (with a structured approach)
Your Profile
- You are based in Belgium and eligible to work locally.
- You have 0–8 years of experience in IT and cybersecurity.
- You have a strong interest in cybersecurity, risk management, and organizational processes.
- You have a basic understanding of security concepts such as endpoint protection, vulnerabilities, and access control.
- You have a structured, detail-oriented, and proactive mindset.
- You are comfortable coordinating tasks and following up with different stakeholders.
- You have strong communication skills in English (Dutch and/or French is a plus).
Your Education & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+) are a plus.
- Exposure to scripting (PowerShell, Python) or cloud environments is a bonus.
- Eagerness to learn and grow within a cybersecurity career path.
- This role is ideal for candidates who want to build a solid foundation in cybersecurity while developing expertise in risk management, coordination, and organizational security practices.
