Nextv Europe & CEE: Redefining broadcaster partnerships for the streaming age

On 9 November 2021 Jef Vandecruys, Managing Director MEDIAGENIX EMEA, again took part in an interesting debate, this time for Nextv Series Europe & CEE. He talked with Reemah Sakaan, CEO of BritBox International, and Arturo Larraínzar, Strategy Director of Atresmedia, about broadcasters launching streaming services versus traditional linear offerings, partnerships between public and commercial broadcasters, and the impact of technology on business strategies.

Jef Vandecruys: “MEDIAGENIX  enables the broadcasters’ digital transformation so that they can offer their audiences that important mix of Linear and VOD or OTT with which they can maximize their content monetization. It is increasingly important for them to capture the data from their ecosystem, and to own the viewer data.”

“When you talk about content monetization, you talk about the lifetime value of your content. There are four elements in that: the quality of your content, the relevance of your content, the cost of your operations, and the speed at which you make your content available on the diverse platforms and devices.”

“We see that broadcasters all over the world are now trying out different mixes of content and business models on different platforms. This generates data that gives them new insights to find their own way. It is a journey. Our advice is: start with what you know, create partnerships, take in views from all sides — including Finance and Legal — and build up your experience.”
