MEDIAGENIX to open own branch in America

Press release of 12 July 2018

The Belgian software company is looking for 30 employees in order to keep up with growth

Groot-Bijgaarden, 12 July 2018 – The Belgian company MEDIAGENIX is currently starting up its own American branch in Fort Lauderdale. After Europe and Asia, America is next. In 2016, MEDIAGENIX won the Belgian ‘Export Lion’ and ‘Promising Business of the Year’ awards. Over the space of a few years, the company has grown into a European market leader, and as well as VTM and VRT, it also helps big international players like the BBC, Disney and ViaCom to manage their programming. Over 90 broadcasters, media companies, telecom companies and service providers now work on a daily basis with WHATS’ON, MEDIAGENIX’s software solution. ‘From Fort Lauderdale, we can provide our current clients in North and South America with even better support, prospect local markets and focus on new players like telecom and cable operators,’ explains Dirk Debraekeleer, CEO of MEDIAGENIX. In order to further support its international success, MEDIAGENIX is looking for thirty extra employees both in Belgium and abroad.

Now a European market leader
In 2016, MEDIAGENIX won the Belgian ‘Export Lion’ and ‘Promising Business of the Year’ awards and it has kept these promises: MEDIAGENIX managed to work its way up to become a European market leader, without external financing. MEDIAGENIX develops the integrated software package WHATS’ON and this is the backbone that increasing numbers of broadcasters use to manage their entire programming, both linear and on-demand. WHATS’ON contains modules for programming, promotion planning, rights management, VOD and OTT, with strong parameterisation options. MEDIAGENIX also supports clients with the implementation of its solution. Through co-creation with clients, MEDIAGENIX can anticipate lightning- quick changes in the fields of technology, revenue models and viewer behaviour. Over 90 broadcasters, media companies, telecom companies and service providers worldwide now work with WHATS’ON on a daily basis.

‘The market in which we operate is reorganising itself on a large scale, and is increasingly tending towards a hybrid model,’ explains Debraekeleer. Nowadays broadcasting organisations and media companies compete on a global scale. In addition, thanks to digital television, on-demand services and streaming services, the offer has completely changed and over-the-top broadcasters such as Netflix offer new possibilities. ‘Expansion and innovation are required. Due to the internationalisation of our client base and the increasing diversity of projects, today MEDIAGENIX is among the best in the international television world. For example, we recently brought in big players like the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Disney and ViaCom’, adds Debraekeleer.

Focusing on new markets
After Singapore and Thailand, in September this year MEDIAGENIX is opening its first branch in North America. MEDIAGENIX already operates on the North American market via a partnership with WideOrbit. In order to strengthen MEDIAGENIX’s position in the North and South American market, the company is opening its own branch in Florida. ‘Fort Lauderdale is the perfect base from which to provide our clients in both North and South America with better support, prospect local markets and focus on new players like telecom and cable operators,’ adds Dirk Debraekeleer. With clients like AMC and the Brazilian company TV Globo, the company has already made great strides in the North and South American media landscape.

Thirty new employees
In order to further support its international success, MEDIAGENIX is looking for thirty extra employees both in Belgium and abroad. A wide range of vacancies is available, including business consultants, project managers, software engineers and analysts. ‘Thanks to our bootstrapping strategy, we have managed to take full advantage of the available sources. Not only has the number of clients increased dramatically in recent years but also the number of employees. In less than five years, the number of employees has doubled. We now have a headcount of 170 and 24 nationalities in total,’ explains Debraekeleer. ‘We are noticing that professionals from multinationals who were unsatisfied with the lack of entrepreneurship in other working environments are especially attracted to our vision.’
