WHATS'On is the multi-user software backbone that covers the whole process of schedule management for an entire station, from budgeting, press communication and scheduling, to broadcasting and beyond. The software covers the intricate web of interactions and constraints between strategic planning, scheduling, traffic management, programme acquisition, production, promotion, commercials, transmission preparation, media and finance information.
WHATS'On Generation 3 is already operational at many European broadcasters and is the answer to the operational and strategic needs of all MediaGeniX customers, who themselves are involved in groundbreaking projects.
The strategic and operational backbone of European TV and Radio stations
WHATS'On is aimed at maximising the efficiency and effectiveness of the scheduling process. It incorporates the business logic of the entire station or network, making valuable information available quickly and easily, guiding users in their daily tasks and ensuring a smooth scheduling life-cycle.
From concept to playlist and way beyond
Strategic and commercial decisions govern the shape of the initial transmission plan. In WHATS'On, this 'ideal' plan will be tuned - or even radically adjusted - to adapt to commercial opportunities, news events or production and acquisition needs. This way, WHATS'On not only acts as a strategic guide, but also as the key guardian and distributor of last-minute updates throughout the station. Trailers, bumpers and idents scheduled with the campaign planning tools, together with the commercials of any sales system, now complete the list of primary events on the playlist. The next step is to craft the schedule by adding secondary events that inform the viewer about the brand, channel, special services, content or the schedule itself. Finally, by adding transitions and timings, the schedule turns into a ready-to-air playlist for your transmission suite.
After transmission, as-run reconciliation updates the initial programme schedule, promotional campaigns and commercial airtime. The actual broadcast schedule is now available for music reporting, viewing figures calculations, rights and legal reporting, as well as for strategic feedback to the budgeting, marketing, acquisition and production departments. Not forgetting complex management reporting.
