Services
MediaGeniX provides a wide array of services that are required for the successful introduction, operational use, maintenance and upgrades of a business-critical, enterprise-wide software package such as WHATS'On. Services include project management, requirements analysis, software development and testing, data conversion, report building, business consultancy, training, documentation, second and third line support and a maintenance programme which includes a yearly major release of WHATS'On.
Anticipate schedule changes
Live transmissions can be unpredictable. However, an experienced planner will anticipate a number of possible scenarios that can be prepared in advance, so that the transmission room can cope with foreseeable changes over the course of a transmission day. With the extended integrations in WHATS'On, changes are also passed on automatically to online publications, such as Text TV, web and EPG programme listings.
Close to transmission time, decisions often need to be made on the spot, without the possibility of conferring with others. When this happens, WHATS'On immediately verifies any changes to the schedule to make sure they are correct by verifying the business rules and constraints.
Station-wide integration
The use of modern technology in an open architecture allows for smooth integration with a range of external systems, from accounting software and digital asset management solutions to virtually every transmission automation suite. This enables customers to combine systems as they see fit, so that they are not forced to adjust workflows that have already proved to be efficient for their internal strategies. By using XML-based technology, the advanced reporting and integration tools ensure that all required information can be extracted or reported in any shape, detail and frequency required.
Extremely configurable
Because each station - and even each individual user - has its own way of working, WHATS'On has been developed to allow extreme configurability. Not only in terms of being able to adapt user interfaces to the core tasks of each user, but even up to the level of extending the metadata model to suit individual requirements.
Increasing the number of services
Launching new channels, new platforms and setting up true multimedia scheduling multiplies the number of consumer services required. But WHATS'On means you do not need the same multiplication in your staffing levels.
Central database in an open system
All data for the entire workflow and data processing is entered once - and only once - as and when the information becomes available. This makes data reliable, accessible, accurate and available immediately to each (authorised) user. Also, all data can be exported to - or processed by - any desktop application or third-party system.
Cross-media
WHATS'On comes with a variety of tools for scheduling multimedia content on numerous platforms, such as VOD, mobile devices, web/IP-based TV and streaming platforms, in addition to traditional linear TV and Radio scheduling. In WHATS'On, all distribution platforms can be interrelated, making it easier to set up, for example, multimedia-marketing campaigns. The system enables automatic repeat scheduling even between different channels and platforms. Filling a VOD service with content that was first broadcast on a linear channel is now effortless.
Strategic budget simulations
The WHATS'On budget simulation module enables you to forecast the cost of future schedules and to keep costs under control by providing tools that produce highly accurate content and budget simulations. The ability to compare the content and statistics between different budget simulations - or to compare a budget simulation with an actual transmission schedule - is a powerful tool in the hands of decision-makers. Forecasting budgets, stock volumes and analysing actual broadcast schedules has never been so fast or easy.
